Me and my PI Behavioral Assessment (BA)

My profile is a “Controller:” detail-oriented and conservative, my preference is high quality and technical work. My BA is spot on in highlighting that I am detail-oriented and precise; follow through is deep and literal to ensure tasks are completed in accordance with quality standards. At the same time, my high C (low “Patience”) indicates my independent thinking and creativity and my need for variety and action. I therefore have an internal conflict between my desire to get things done and get things right. This is evident in my self-concept, which shows a shift towards increased flexibility. My synthesis profile, incorporating this as well as an effort to be less reserved, resembles that of a “Strategist,” which I think is an accurate portrayal of how I now most like to work.

Me and OnFlow

I believe that organizations flourish when they systematically enable people to confidently handle uncertainty and change. I enable organizations to achieve this state by helping:

  • Develop shared intent around a compelling and meaningful purpose

  • Translate intent into adaptable strategies, bold action plans and breakthrough results

  • Build foresight and an appetite for change

This belief stems from experience gained in the private, public and non-profit sectors worldwide; from driving start-ups through sustained growth as well as guiding multinationals through complex change; from building teams organically as well as leading strategic acquisitions. The common factor has been the critical need to succeed in volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA) situations.

This learning has informed the creation and development of our Generative Strategy service line and its focus on participatory methods to generate practical change strategies that have the buy-in of all stakeholders. This thinking is explained further in my introduction to Generative Strategy. Adopting this approach, I have led numerous consultative processes designed to obtain the qualitative and quantitative evidence required for breakthrough thinking and evidence-informed decision-making. This includes:

  • Global strategic planning exercises for Action Against Hunger, Christian Aid and Relief International

  • A scenario analysis exercise for UNDP’s country office in Montenegro as well as a strategy refresh for their office in Bosnia & Herzegovina

  • Leading organizational transformations for the secretariats of the UN Framework Convention for Climate Change and UNAIDS
